I love Morrissey! I've spent most of my life on his trail. Unfortunately I wasn't hardcore enough to attend his Hollywood High gig. A few of my friends went; I had to stay behind; I wonder if they saw the jealousy in my eyes.
I envy the crowd of Moz Angelenos that were at that historical show. For the rest of us fans, we can stop our crying because the concert was filmed and will soon be available for viewing. My friend Melissa sent me an email with a Spin Magazine link showing a clip of Everyday Is Like Sunday....and she's in it!
Now, I'm even more excited for the concert film! I hope to see more of her, other friends and familiar faces.
It's that time of year again...OUTFEST baby! There are so many great films I wanna check out. My nieces and I are so happy that they're having a Pitch Perfect Sing-Along. We watch it everyday and we're looking forward to getting #PitchSlapped with other fans.
Thursday, 7/11, is the Outfest Opening Night Gala but I'm more excited for the 13th. It's my birthday and they're showing an amazing film at the fest. I saw The Most Fun I've Ever Had With My Pants On last year at the AFI Fest and fell in love with Drew Denny! I've been raving about this film for the longest and I'm glad that my friends are going to get a chance to see it.
I officially have a crush on DREW DENNY! I was lucky enough to catch The Most Fun I've Ever Had With My Pants On the other night at the AFI FEST. I almost didn't make it because I didn't want to go alone but I'm glad I did because it was amazing. Naturally, the title grabbed my attention, then I saw that Millie (freaks&geeks) was in it. My melancholic self checked my AFI Fest app after reading the description: In this dark comedy, friends Andy and Liv travel through the picturesque landscape of the Southwest in remembrance of Andy's father. How could something with a happy title be so sad?
Drew Denny (writer, director, actor) introduced the film saying that it was made as a dedication to her father, whom passed away from cancer, not even 2 years ago. My heart sank. She promised it wasn't going to be a sad movie but I couldn't help getting teary-eyed during the film. It must be difficult, to relive that. She has to be the bravest girl, ever; writing and acting in the film seemed emotionally hard enough but to go around presenting the film and then talking about it after, that is courage! She is now included in my nightly prayers.
I enjoyed the film very much. I felt like I was taking the journey with
Andy (Drew Denny) and Liv (Sarah Hagan). OMG! In the beginning of the film, the girls sang, "Awesome God." It's just one of those songs I grew up on and 'til this day, I find myself randomly singing it. The movie was beautifully shot
and the music complemented the scenery. I think it's so cool that Drew wrote a few songs for the film, as well as having her friends' music on the soundtrack. She was such a sweetheart during the Q&A; so pretty and all smiles; I loved her explanations for the questions. She also made cute film postcards for Fun Pants; shots taken at the various locations they visited. I got Austin, baby! That's where Drew's from =).
Last month I found out that Harry Shum Jr. was going to be a
special guest at This Week, a sketch
comedy show about the week’s current events, at Second City in Hollywood. I immediately bought my tickets in
advance. Great move because it sold out quickly. The performance was hilarious
and Harry was brilliant. It was a great opportunity to see Harry in action and
in an intimate setting. I also wanted to give the Second City crew a shout out
because they were very entertaining and had me laughing at all the sketches,
especially Patricia Villetto. If you’re ever in Hollywood, you should totally
check out a performance.
After the show, I was lucky enough to meet HSJ. He was
extremely nice, huggable and smiley. It was a quick hello and a snapped
photo. He hung out a bit at the theatre and was kind enough to chat and take
photos with some fans. My niece and I were also able to take our photo with
Harry. Even though I had a bad hair day, at least it was a good day.
With the success of their first season, a tour was set up with the 8 semi-finalists of NBC's The Voice. The contestants kicked off their tour in Hollywood at The Gibson Amphitheatre.

I really loved how all the contestants collaborated & joined one another on stage. It was like a big family; a big talented rockin' family. They performed their hit performances from the tv series and the final 4 performed their original songs.
Only in L.A.? There was a surprise guest...Blake Shelton joined Dia on stage and sang Tom Petty's "I Won't Back Down" with an exchange of friendly push/shove.

The last day of March I went to Hollywood with some friends to Club Booby Trap. We saw ZE!, an electro-pop artist from Malaysia perform.
I kept hearing about her but I didn't really know to expect. We got there and she was tearing up the dance floor. She grabbed several people from the audience to dance with her during her song BOYS I LIKE. It was a blast!
I scored with a ZE! badge for dancing and I also bought her CD =). I've been listening to her album and I really like it! It makes me wanna dance. It's club material, so I hope the DJs around the world gets a copy of this.
I was invited to a screening of a double feature of Showtime shows THE BIG C & WEEDS. Thanks to Outfest & Power Up, I received emails from both of them; I RSVP'd and went with friends & family.
It was great seeing the shows on a big screen, Directors Guild of America. I've always been a fan of Weeds so I was excited for the new season. The new series The Big C stole my heart; I instantly fell in love!
After the screening, there was an after party in the lobby of DGA. The theme was, "Desserts & Liquor", taken from a line from the new series. Indeed, that's what the party was. Cool promotional candy bars, cupcakes & alcohol. I love when there's an open bar. Absolut & Stella Artois. They had specialty drinks: The Lit (lemon drop) & The Big C (cosmo). They had a cool weeds display of brownies.
It was a great night! I'm looking forward to the rest of the season.

Wow, I guess I'm kinda a cool aunt. I took some videos but I made them private because YOUTUBE was flagging recordings of the glee concert due to copyrights. ? I wonder if they're going to release a live DVD in the future...

The 3rd Season of The Big Gay Sketch Show premiered on Logo Tuesday, 4/13. I was lucky enough to attend the premiere party in Hollywood with the cast & other celebs. Good Times. I still need to post the photos but for now, check out this video by James St Jamescovering the event. I'm in this video towards the end =).
Last Friday I got a text message stating, “the first 10 people to reply – ‘I want to go’ win tickets to see The Ting Tings tomorrow night.” I promptly replied. I had signed up on a couple of artists’ text messaging lists via mozes.com but I hadn’t really got updates until now. So I went to the website and saw that several people already replied but I was still within the 10 people. Shortly after, I received a text message congratulating me and giving me an email address to contact for more info. I emailed and didn’t hear anything.
Friday night I was at home and checked my email and still no response; I thought it was for the best because I was working on Saturday anyways. So, I went to work and decided to email again and still nothing. I started feeling sad because I saw how fun the Manchester gig was and wanted to be a part of it. I was looking at photos of people covered in paint. This was going to be their “round 2” of the Adidas Paint Party.
I emailed PR again with my phone and got a quick reply. She stated that she had emailed me twice. Maybe my email address was acting up, so I emailed her with my cell number and told her to please text me the info. It was 5pm and I was at work until midnight. It seemed like time wasn’t on my side. I got a text with the address, the starting time (7pm) and a message saying, “have fun!” I’m afraid of rejection and I was scared to ask my job if I could leave early. I told them we were caught up and luckily my request was granted.
I clocked out of work, went to pick up my niece Kristeenah – yes she was the lucky one, and went home to change. We got to the place at exactly 7:01pm. I left her there to wait in line while I roamed the streets of Hollywood looking for parking. I parked almost a mile away, because everything was 1 hour parking, and walked back to the spot as fast as I could, trying to ignore all the dumb text messages (hurry up x 10; Where are you? The line is moving) my niece was sending me. I got in line and we were just waiting. A few workers passed by saying, “you guys are going to have so much fun.” The anticipation was killing me…let’s go in!
They checked off my name on the guest list, gave us release forms to fill out and a ticket to get our Adidas gear. Unfortunately they ran out of my size for jacket but I got a cool Adidas shirt and track pants. There were changing rooms and clothes check. After we were ready, WE WALKed downstairs into this little club with neon lights. They had photos on the walls from the Manchester gig. The DJ was spinning music, people were dancing, refreshments were provided, and a 21+ section with free beer was designated. I ditched my niece and enjoyed a few adult beverages.
Per The Ting Tings website, “the art/paints are going to transformed into collectible covers of our ‘Great DJ’ single.” A curtain was opened where the band was going to perform and girls walked around with trays of bottles of paint. Paint was thrown everywhere, squirting neon colors throughout the crowd and on the black walls. That went on for about 15 minutes and then the band took the stage.
We Walk was the song they started out with. The crowd was jumping and singing along while neon splats shot out in every direction. Great DJ was next and just thinking about it takes me back to that party. That’s exactly what it was; a huge paint party. I kept thinking how lucky everybody in that room was to be experiencing such an awesome event. I didn’t want the night to ever end. I tried to take as many photos as possible without ruining my camera. Actually, I just wanted to enjoy the performance and wish I had brought another camera to record the show. I attempted to take a video with my iPhone and it came out a bit muffled but it still captures the energy of the show. Keep Your Head was my favorite song performed and of course, That’s Not My Name was the highlight of the evening. All in all, this was the most fun I’ve ever had and wish everybody the opportunity to experience this.
Thank you TING TINGS & ADIDAS and everybody else that helped put this event together. I look forward to seeing the CD covers.

I saw him perform a couple of years ago from the rooftop of the parking lot next to JKL; it was cold and raining. My nephews, nieces and I spent all day making letter signs that spelled out, "MOZ ANGELES." I don't think he saw it though but at least the band members did; after the show my nephews tried to meet the band and heard them say that L.A. was keeping it real with the Moz Angeles.
This is sure to sell out quickly, so get your tickets asap. I'm not sure how strict that parking lot has become; I'm sure they caught on to all the people hanging out there to get a glimpse of their favorite music artists.
