She Keeps Me Warm

The VMAs had many great performances, along with a shameful one, but my favorite was Same Love. It's such an amazing song and it sends a powerful message. I'm proud of this song. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis deserve their award. They're heroes! Not only are they promoting equality, they're spreading love.

Mary Lambert has a beautiful voice. She was so emotional during her performance that she made me cry at the end of the song. I wanted to hug her. She recently came out with a video for She Keeps Me Warm and it's beautiful. She's so pretty. I have a new crush. I wish I lived in Seattle.

Moz, Mel & More

I love Morrissey! I've spent most of my life on his trail. Unfortunately I wasn't hardcore enough to attend his Hollywood High gig. A few of my friends went; I had to stay behind; I wonder if they saw the jealousy in my eyes.

I envy the crowd of Moz Angelenos that were at that historical show. For the rest of us fans, we can stop our crying because the concert was filmed and will soon be available for viewing. My friend Melissa sent me an email with a Spin Magazine link showing a clip of Everyday Is Like Sunday....and she's in it!
Now, I'm even more excited for the concert film! I hope to see more of her, other friends and familiar faces.

Whup! (There It Is)

Okay, what's wrong with me? Have I not been living in Los Angeles for the past 3 years? I'm barely finding out about Big Whup. This band is just too adorable! I should've been catching them at gigs, 2 years ago. Well, at least they have a new fan now.

I bet you can't watch this video without smiling:

F Yeah to the FYF!

I’ve never been to FYF Fest but I’m actually thinking I might go to this one, if I can trade in enough recyclables for that paper.

Great bands! I wouldn’t mind seeing: Redd Kross (would be Steffy’s Fantasy) * Beirut * Cursive * Chairlift * Tanlines * Warpaint * Dinosaur Jr. * The Men * Simian Mobile Disco * M83 * Chromatics * Sleigh Bells * Liars * Against Me! * Nite Jewel * American Nightmare (because my friend is obsessed with Wes/Cold Cave)

F A S H I O N

Super HOT cover of David Bowie's FASHION! Glee covered it to promote FNO (Fashion Night Out). It premiered a couple of weeks ago. Last night was the big night. The majority of events were in New York but L.A. had some too. Not a big fashion person so I don't really know much on the subject. Yesterday and today, that's what is trending: #FNO.
Heard about all the events/parties and seen photos...I wish I was in NY this week.

What's The Deelio?

The most talked about video of the summer is "Our Deal" by Best Coast, directed by Drew Barrymore. Starring the beautiful Chloe Moretz! An amazing talented young actress. I met her at the I Am Number Four premiere and started following her on twitter. She is so adorable!
Great song and the video is amazing! See if you can spot a couple of cameos. After you watch this video, it will be stuck in your mind. Well directed and very clever.

It's the type of video that you can watch over & over again. Now, you can see the EXTENDED video version (10 minutes).

Bonnie Dune

The new & upcoming band that everybody seems to know is Bonnie Dune. For me, it was by association. I heard that Cory Monteith was in a new band and just had to check them out. I instantly liked them on facebook and friend'ed them on myspace.

I checked out their songs and really enjoyed them and was looking forward to seeing Cory, the drummer boy, in action. I missed their first L.A. gig, due to prior plans, and was going to try and see them in San Juan Capistrano but there was a major storm and couldn't make the drive.

So I didn't think I would see the band anytime soon. I ended up taking a family trip to San Francisco because my niece was going to check out a college. A couple of days before the trip, I saw that BD was playing at the Bottom of the Hill, which happens to be in San Francisco and to top it off, it was an all ages show! My sister dropped my niece & I off and we got to see the band and hang out after.

The band was awesome! I enjoyed their set. I really liked their songs but unfortunately they didn't have any music at the merch table. The guys were super nice =] and good looking ;).

Cute girl after the show ;)

Ze! in Hollywood

The last day of March I went to Hollywood with some friends to Club Booby Trap. We saw ZE!, an electro-pop artist from Malaysia perform.

I kept hearing about her but I didn't really know to expect. We got there and she was tearing up the dance floor. She grabbed several people from the audience to dance with her during her song BOYS I LIKE. It was a blast!

I scored with a ZE! badge for dancing and I also bought her CD =). I've been listening to her album and I really like it! It makes me wanna dance. It's club material, so I hope the DJs around the world gets a copy of this.

ZE! is so GLAM - she pisses GLITTER!!!

Mathew Morrison @ The Grove

Everybody's favorite glee teacher, Mr. Schue, made his first solo appearance at The Grove on January 29th. Matthew Morrison has been working on a solo album and He and his "M and M" band decided to give Los Angeles a preview of what to expect on the upcoming tour. It was a free all ages show presented by Oscar Mayer. Props to O.M. for giving out free lunches.

The Grove was crowded and I couldn't find a spot. I went around the back stage and found a spot next to the theater where Matthew ended up coming out at. I was so excited!! Check out the few seconds of MM on my twit vid.

Matthew & Co. rocked out The Grove! He performed Mrs. Robinson, All Night Long, a great mash up of Great Balls of Fire & I Saw Her Standing There, glee faves: (Gold Digger, Don't Stand So Close To Me, Sway, Somewhere Over The Rainbow), and debuted a new solo song My Name.

Peter Bjorn & John - Free Gig 1/31

There is still time to RSVP for School Night with Peter, Bjorn & John for next Monday, January 31, 2011 at Bardot in Hollywood. The show is 18+ and it's only $5 but it's free with RSVP if you're 21+. They are playing the day before in Eagle Rock at The Center For The Arts. It's a sold out show, so hurry up and try to get a spot at the Bardot.

The last time I saw Peter Bjorn & John was when they played at The Roxy, with special guest Victoria Bergman. That was almost 4 years ago, so I'm totally looking forward to this show. Make sure to RSVP for SCHOOL NIGHT before it's too late and subscribe to their mailing list to be in the loop for upcoming shows.

Signing F-U (Cee Lo ASL cover)

Happy New Year!

A friend of mine shared this Fuck You video and I absolutely LOVE it! This girl is adorable! Anna Robilotta, a Jersey girl residing in NY, signed this song for her ASL class and did a splendid job. Although this video was uploaded last month, I hope it becomes a 2011 youtube sensation.

Merry Christmas To All

And HAPPY HOLIDAYS to everybody! I hope everybody has a gleeful Christmas. Here is a Christmas photo of me & my nieces in the early '80s.
(Judy, Desiree, Stef, & Denise)

I'm spending the holidays with my family at my house. We've been listening to "Baby, It's Cold Outside" on repeat and I wanted to share it. We are having a traditional Mexican Christmas dinner with tamales and posole. The kids are baking and we're listening to holiday music. We're going to watch the glee christmas episode & later 12 Men of Christmas with Kristen Chenoweth.

Thank You

"....BUT NO. I will live my life just as I will undoubtedly die - ALONE."

Morrissey always comforts me and I've been listening to Moz along with tons of other music because I'm updating my itunes library. I have wild mood swings and this Lily Allen song best interprets the way I feel right now. Thank You is the radio version but I really want to say, "F - U VERY MUCH!"

"Look inside, look inside your tiny mind, then look a bit harder, cause we're so uninspired, so sick and tired, of all the hatred you harbour. So you say it's not ok to be gay, well I think you're just evil."

You're My Diamond Girl

I am in love with Marina Lambrini Diamandis! She is beautiful, adorable, creative, unique, & an amazing singer! Thanks to a cool friend for introducing her music to me and inviting me to her L.A. show. She started the set with my favorite song:

The concert was very entertaining! Marina & The Diamonds gave a great performance! I didn't want the night to end. The "security staff workers" were really rude! I can go on about details but they're not worth it and after waiting outside for an hour, I was able to meet Marina and she was so sweet. I'm such a nerd when I'm an obsessed fan, I gave her my cheesy blinking red light ring the tie I made.

For more photos from the concert, check out my flickr set and in the near future check out youtube.com/TGIblog for more clips from the show.

SET YOURSELF ON FIRE

Stars was amazing, as always! The set was great starting off with the new album, then throwing in a mixture of stars classics. After the show, my friend Angel & I hung around, being dorky fans. I made a stars tie especially for the show but it was rushed and didn't come out as great as I hoped. I tried to fix the logo by adding white paint around it. The band still liked the tie and I ended up giving it to Torquil =). He's awesome!

Stars Shine Brighter Than Ever

Stars played a couple of nights in Los Angeles to promote their new album The Five Ghosts. They were AMAZING! I've been listening to the new album non-stop! It's wonderful. There's so much more that needs to be said about the show but I'm going to wait until I upload the photos & videos. The good news is that they are returning to L.A. in November at The Wiltern and I'm looking forward to that. This time around I hope more friends get to see them, since they didn't get tickets due to selling out.
